     FORUMS MOVED AND MORE

Today we moved the forums to our parent forum system over at http://www.polatrite.com/forums/ You can sign up for a new account there as well as find other games produced by our same development team. The old forums will remain accessable for a limited time so that you may reference/import your old topics to the new boards. You can access the old forums here.

In addition, the raffle was unfortunately cancelled because not enough tickets sold. The people who bought tickets have been either refunded their money or given cupies (their choice). If you still haven't received your refund/cupies, simply submit a support ticket. Some e-mail addresses were invalid for contacting two donators.

     COMING SOON - CHARACTER TRANSFERS

Coming soon we will be allowing automatic character transfers. You will be allowed to transfer your characters between Phoenix and Fury using the website for a small price in cupies. The system will be so easy to use that you could transfer a character back and forth as much as you want, if you'd like!

More details will emerge soon - as more players reach ranklevel 1050 on Fury. One rule is currently known for sure: you must sell your house before you transfer a character. Keep an eye out!

     IMPROVED RUNE MERGE AND NEW RUMORS

Today we added a new rune merging option for characters who have reached ranklevel 1050. The spell "adeta gran mas" will allow these players to merge their runes into huge stacks of 250x, instead of 100x.

     VOCATION BALANCE UPDATE #6

Some significant changes were made today, primarily involving non-magical vocations.

* Divine caldera and arrow rain have had their power decreased
* Meteor arrow and blitz shot have had their power increased
* Berserk has had its power increased
* The speed bonus of vigorous haste has been increased. Archers and pirates now learn vigorous haste
* New spell: Healing wind will automatically heal you each second for 10 seconds after you cast it. The heals are not quite as powerful as an ultimate healing, and will not remove paralyze, but the spell is useful for keeping you alive in tough situations. This spell is learnable by sorcerers and druids

     VOCATION BALANCE UPDATE #5

More interesting balance changes have been made today. Some of these new changes should greatly balance some of the primary problems certain vocations have been experiencing, especially melee vocations.

* Paladin's divine caldera and arrow rain have been lowered about 10% in damage
* Violent will has been slightly increased in power
* Pirates and knights now have access to a new spell: paralysis shockwave, an explosion of paralysis causing damage
* Samurais now have access to a new spell: paralysis wave, a wave of paralysis inducing damage

     VOCATION BALANCE UPDATE #4

Some significant changes were made today for vocation balance.

* The mana shield penalty for samurais has been removed
* Violent will has been lowered significantly in power
* Pirates will now gain magic level faster than knights, unfortunately this will not apply fully to existing characters (meaning pirates will have to train their magic level to receive the full bonuses)
* For shielding above 100, maximum hp gains have been increased to 50 points
* For magic level above 100, maximum mana gains have been increased to 80 points

Rank 10+ parties will no longer share experience with players who are less than rank 10. Players rank 9 and lower can still share experience when partied together, however.

In addition, the bonus experience given through guild membership has been slightly changed.

* Archers damage has been increased by 10%

     A USE FOR PEARLS? AND BUG FIXES

The mystery of pearls will finally be revealed. Search Cerebus for the Disciple of Witchcraft, an NPC that will exchange your pearls for special goodies. Two clue keywords: death ring, pendant of energy. You must figure out the rest yourself!

The death ring has been substantially improved, and now provides the following bonuses:
* 10 of all fighting skills
* 10% increase in physical damage
* -10 to shielding
* 10 minute duration

The life ring has also been improved, and now provides a 10% boost to magic damage.

In addition, a very important bug was fixed today which will cause a number of players to receive damage bonuses. Mages especially will now deal more damage.
The bug that was fixed makes it so that equipment that increases your physical damage by a percentage (such as the arbalest and death legs) or your magic damage by a percentage (hood of the warlocks, boots of arcane furor, and high-end wands) now function properly.

Players can now share their messages with the entire world, using the broadcasted red text that GMs do. Simply find the Cupie Trader and ask to send a "message"! It costs a mere 2 cupies per message. Enjoy!

     VOCATION BALANCE UPDATE #3

The third in our vocation balance series is here!

* Increased mana regeneration based on level/rank for all vocations!
* Fist skill now adds a bonus to ranged damage
* Archers gain fisting quicker than before
* Paladins and pirates no longer gain fisting as quickly as before
* Most pirates have had their fisting significantly lowered
* New pirate spell: ransack
* All players will notice a small increase in damage, between 3-5%
* All players will notice a small decrease in damage that they take from monsters, between 2-3%
* All players now receive 20 hp per shielding (above 10) and 30 mana per magic level

In addition, one other change was made as part of an upcoming change: when you gain more than 1 billion experience, it shows up as 1 million in your client. This is so that you can see your full experience, rounded a little bit, even as you increase up past 1 billion.

     MASSIVE SERVER UPGRADE!

The parts for the new server upgrades are finally in! We'll be moving back to our traditional (and far superior) hosting method that was used in the first 5 months - however now we've juiced up our host computer!

* Quad-core 2.66ghz 6MB cache Intel Core 2 Quad
* 6 gigs of RAM
* Dedicated 14mbps download/2.4mbps upload line (over 4x more upload)
* A brand new dedicated file and web management server!


In addition to these hardware upgrades, I need to purchase some additional networking equipment including 200 feet of CAT6, two gigabit ethernet switches. I'll also be updating the access point firmware and ensuring that all running hardware has the latest firmware during our update downtime.

Now the big question: How much did it all cost?

We've added another beautiful map update! The vast new addition of Upper Avia City will provide numerous new houses to live in, as well as a few new spawns. In addition, the cultists have expanded their grasp in their underground hideout. Other new epic monsters have been added, and the Epic Annihilator can be seen for the first time!

Automatic restarts are now in the game! Every 16-18 hours the game will automatically reboot with a 15 minute warning. This will give everyone a chance to acquire the daily spawns!

     MOVING!

I am currently in the process of moving to Indiana, which has been an extremely involved effort over the last 3 weeks. Unfortunately I haven't been too attentive to the server, but I hope that within 2 weeks time from today I will be back to 100% capacity. Next week during the week, SolusOT will likely move to a new server machine that will have far superior upload bandwidth and better processing power, which should eliminate some lag.

The cupie changes are still coming up, I have everything written up I simply need to get time to add the items to the Cupie Trader NPC and actually fully roll-out the new system.

Additionally, other improvements are coming up such as automatic reboots every 16-24 hours. I am working on some website improvements, and of course we will have continued game improvements such as the quest-heavy new map update that is coming in soon.

Don't forget about player research! There isn't much left to do, so get cracking on those scarabs and unlock the new content!

     UPCOMING CUPIE LIST CHANGES!

Today I released the disc of domicile as a purchase for 1 cupie. These handy discs warp you immediately back to your temple, provided you are not in combat.

Some other important cupie changes are coming up soon as well. These are significant changes that will make cupies better and easier to use for players.

1) Almost all Cupie prices will be lowered significantly. Some items will no longer be available (such as "tier 1" weapons), and other items will be bundled together (a "serpent set" instead of individual purchases).

2) Cupie trade-ins will no longer be available, that is trading a vile axe for a discount on a titan axe. This is no longer necessary because titan axe will simply be cheaper to purchase period.

3) All Cupie items will be available via the Cupie Trader in-game, you will no longer have to rely on a GM for ANYTHING involving Cupies, except getting your Cupies when you donate (which is usually quite quick through game mail)

4) Runes will no longer be sold for Cupies. It's likely that a new NPC, even better than Malia, will soon be available to higher level players.

Hopefully these changes will make everyone much happier with Cupies, as now you can instantly perform any transactions that you'd like, with no waiting on GMs!

     VOCATION BALANCE UPDATE #2

Health regeneration is now based on your maximum health, so all vocations will recover a certain percentage of their maximum health every second
Sorcerer - 5%
Druid - 5%
Paladin - 7%
Knight - 4%
Samurai - 15%
Necromancer - 3%
Pirate - 4%
Archer - 10%
Rooker - 2%

Archers now have access to the new AOE shockwave spell

Archers and paladins have access to the new AOE meteor arrow spell

The distance of both arrow rain and blitz shot has been increased

Flameshatter, a new fire-based rune has been added (you'll note that Sage and Berserk Dragons have used this attack for a while!)

Consequently, Great Soul Fire is no longer available, however it was rarely used anyways

Ultimate Waste now consumes 5000 mana

Samurai melee damage has been increased by 33% when mana shield is active (50% -> 66%)

Lightning speed has been removed

     SMALL UPDATE AND FIXES!

Despite being overworked and barely sleeping, I have worked to bring another update.
* Over half a dozen new raids, such as the new Endurance raids - an ongoing raid for 20 minutes straight!
* Added new items for sale at the vendor, thanks to those who added previously unsellable items to the wiki
* Made some adjustments to the way that dice work (sorry, but stone dragons were averaging 25k gold a piece with max sell price!)

     OVERWORKED!

My sincere apologies to those that have submitted support tickets and are still waiting. Counting only Monday and Tuesday, I had already put in 36 hours of work for the week when I woke up this morning. That's nearly a full work week! Next week I am on vacation however, so things will return to normal. Destiny and I will also be working on our Christmas update together. =)

     VOCATION BALANCE UPDATE #1!

The first update in a series of vocation balance updates will make the following important changes... these changes will benefit ALL vocations, but some vocations may have a few other changes for balance.
* Damage for melee/distance has been improved and is now much more consistant
* Damage for mages has improved
* Mana fluid recovery for mages has improved, but for other vocations it has been decreased
* Samurais will now experience a significant reduction of damage when they use mana shield
* The cost of full healing runes has been significantly increased
* The HP regeneration of paladins and paladins has increased
* The HP regeneration of samurais and archers has greatly increased
* The HP regeneration of knights has decreased
* The damage of fierce berserk, violent will, groundshaker, arrow rain, and whirlwind has been lightly decreased
* Lightning speed has been removed (this may be re-added)
* Lesser paralyze should now function properly

At some point over the next two weeks I plan to go in-depth on how I view each vocation as it pertains to balance, for example: samurais are the hardest hitting vocation in the game; paladins are a balanced vocation that excels at solo combat versus creatures, sorcerers have high resistance to burst damage, but don't last long under pressure - they deal tons of damage while they survive, though. I will go in depth on these points and more as soon as I have time to write the small essay on it. ;)

Two Christmas updates just aren't good enough for SolusOT, this is the pre-Christmas update part 2!

New areas
Wage war on epic creatures on new islands south of Slybrooke!

Fight the epic dragon hordes in the Detrius Catacombs under the Crusader's Island north of Avia!

Beware the epic creatures in the Temple of Plague, in the southeast Hilatia jungles!

Mining
Mine for rare gemstones using your pick on various small rocks! Pick up a pick at Frodo's shop!

Farming
Grow and sell blueberries using blueberries and a hoe, also available at Frodo's shop!

Fishing
Pull out the old fishing rod and be the prime angler of SolusOT! Sell your fish to Soya for a profit.

Bread-making
Indulge in some advanced bread-making to earn yourself some hefty gold!

Mana well
The mana well will allow you to spend gold to earn mana directly towards your magic level, just like the existing skill and experience trainers. All this in the Garden of Avatars!

Experience cap
The experience cap has been raised to 1.9 billion experience for players that are rank 50.

Full healing rune
A new healing rune, the "full" healing rune has been implemented. This heals for far more than ultimate healing, but carries a very costly price tag.

     PRE-CHRISTMAS UPDATE!

One Christmas update just isn't good enough for SolusOT, this is a pre-Christmas update!

New areas
Enjoy visiting the new town of Utopia, created by villagers who wanted to get away from the bustle of the city, this small village is very close-by, but a nice secluded location.

Tons of new houses are available for players, with expansion into the farmlands northwest of Avia, as well as new houses in Avia, Slybrooke, and the surrounding regions.

Even a few new hunting grounds have been added, such as a new location in the field of the dead and new hunting grounds hidden near Utopia. Be sure to bring your pick!

High-levels will also enjoy quicker access to the Pits of Inferno throne rooms via a secret passage in the Flicker caverns. For another part of the Christmas updates, the experience from Pits of Inferno monsters will be increased as well!

New quests
Three new quests have also been added, as well as a few nice daily spawns - including more holy orchids!

Depot fixes
All depot boxes should now properly function to access your stored items, and there are a few new depot boxes around - such as the Hilatia city depot!

Balance and lag fixes
Some players have been experiencing excessive lag because of certain spells and circumstances. The Ultimate Explosion spell has had it's range decreased by a couple tiles, but has also had it's mana cost reduced to 800. In addition, a few critical crash bugs have been fixed which should result in almost 100% uptime with no crashes... hopefully!

     ARENA IMPROVEMENTS, NEW HOUSES!

Over 20 new houses were added today, all of them are located in and around the PVP arena! Enjoy!

In addition, you'll see the PVP arena is much larger and has many more places to fight in.

Exterminate the ooze! Random ooze raids will occur roughly every 2 hours, be around to join in some ooze bashing and score some nice cash as well as some potential rare prizes!

     MANA FLUID IMPROVEMENTS

The weight of mana fluids has been drastically reduced. Each vial now weighes 0.80oz. instead of 1.80oz. Furthermore, buying mana fluids has been made substantially easier. You can purchase backpacks of backpacks of mana fluids from Golan - as well as new item, potion cases (and backpacks of potion cases) from Golan with lighter weight. This should significantly help some of the capacity imbalance with mages up till now.

     SKILL RINGS, RUNE CREATION IMPROVED!

Skills rings were improved today. They now last 5 minutes, but give the same amount of skills in that 5 minutes as they did in the entire 30 minutes before!

In addition, you can now create runes (and pearls) in mass quantities - the same as you would buy from NPC Malia! This will improve the speed of runemaking for all those mages out there!

     EXPERIENCE TRAINING LIMITATION

in the Garden of Avatars, we now require players to be rank 1 or higher to purchase experience training.

This will cause players to take longer to get their first ranks - true - but this is how most existing characters leveled in the first place. This has many economical and game benefits, if you would like more information see my thread on the forums

     RANK BUG FIXED

A serious bug with ranks was fixed today. All characters that are NOT rank 0, 20, or 40, will notice a damage increase. For some of you, such as characters from 13-19, the damage increase will be massive. For others, not as much. This bug was a rounding error which caused characters to behave as a lower rank.

* There are now 20 new premade channels that anyone can use, these are useful for party hunting, conversations between friends, and any other non-private information. These are NOT private channels.

     MORE BUG FIXES, NEW SPELLS

A bug was fixed which caused mana fluids not to restore the proper amount of mana with ranks factored in, this has been fixed.

     BUG FIXES

A bug was fixed that allowed certain characters to dual-wield distance weapons. All players who were caught deliberately cheating with this bug lost one or both of their distance weapons permanently.

!leavehouse is working again, it requires you to fully clean your house before using it however. It should no longer cause crashes.

     THE AMAZING 20 MILLION GOLD HALLOWEEN CHARITY RAFFLE!

     NAME RULES CHANGED

Today I made some adjustments to the rules required for naming your character. I have prevented certain prefixes such as admin, god, solus, and other names that may appear as administrators. I also have increased the minimum length to 3 letters, and decreased the maximum length to 16 letters. Names can no longer contain numbers, and cannot start with spaces, or have two spaces in a row at any place in the name. Hopefully these rules will help players choose better names that are easier to work with.

     MELEE/DISTANCE INSTANT SPELLS FIXED

A bug was fixed with melee/distance instant spells (groundshaker, berserk, divine caldera, etc.) that caused them to not hit for the proper values, AND not deal bonus damage with ranks. This has been fixed and the spells should be hitting much more powerfully.

Other vocations should already be working fine.

     GARDEN OF AVATARS!

A powerful new feature has been added in the Garden of Avatars, near the Slybrooke castle. Here you can utilize four special stations to train your experience level, distance and melee skills, and magic level - using gold!

This will finally allow all players the opportunity to spend their hard-earned gold on powerful enhancements.

10,000 gold = advanced training (10x faster)
1,000 gold = normal training (must have less than 10,000 gold in your backpack)

     CLUB AND SWORD WEAPONS

Most high-end clubs and swords have increased in attack power, bringing them closer to axes.

As has been said before, clubs are defensive, swords are balanced, and axes are offensive, however previously the attack gap was too large.

     WIKI INCENTIVE PROGRAM

In order to spur player involvement in using the wiki, I will agree to add special information to certain pages that are created. For example, on runes I have added the damage modifiers for a few of the runes currently available. For the winged helmet, I have shown that it gives 30 levels of run speed. As players continue to add more pages, I will go through and add little tidbits of information - that way everybody wins!

     GUILD IMPROVEMENTS

A brand new experience bonus system has been implemented today.

From now on, whenever a guild member kills a monster, the rest of the guild (that is online) will receive a small amount of bonus experience! This experience is made out of thin-air - not shared, but a pure bonus. This should really add a bonus to being in a good guild.

With the change, there are a few balance considerations. Higher level players will give a larger amount of bonus experience percentage, using the following table:
* Level 149 and lower gives 1%
* Level 150-199 gives 1.25%
* Level 200-249 gives 3%
* Level 250-299 gives 4%
* Level 300 gives 10%

Certain things of interest are selected by the Avia Research Group (ARG ;) and become researchable. As players do certain things (typically events) they will gain research points for the server as a whole. When all the research is complete, certain new content is unlocked and secrets are revealed!

     BALANCE UPDATES

Within the last 2 weeks I had made some balance changes that caused certain physical classes to drop in damage. This was one part of a two-part change, and part two is here now.

* All physical classes have received a damage boost. Damage is now greatly improved with higher levels, causing physical classes to scale in power with level. (A mage may do 500 damage at level 50, and 1000 at level 100. A paladin may do 300 damage at level 50, and 600 at level 100)
* All classes now have hp regeneration based on level, but samurais still have a much higher regen, and sorcerers/druids/rookers have a much lower regen
* Minimum damage for all classes has been increased

     UPDATE STATUS!

After working a 7-day 89 hour week, followed by 35 hours as of Tuesday evening this week (3 days), I finally have overcame the deadline obstacle and can begin to live a normal human life again, for a little bit. The first item of business is visiting my beautiful girlfriend GM Destiny, so I will be semi-away most of the weekend on travel. After that I will resume regular work on the Paragonia update.

     THREE NEW VOCATIONS!

Three new vocations have been added today!
* Pirates - Dual wielding characters that can use distance and melee, lots of hp, but poor shielding and very poor magic abilities
* Archers - Focused completely on distance weapons, these high damage archers have forsaken melee weapons, magic level, and shielding solely to improve their distance capabilities, maximum damage!
* Rooker - For the old school feel, a character that plays just like Rookgaard, with a few utility spells!
* The summon list has been updated
* Paladins now have access to the challenge spell

Today we will be having a fast-paced leveling race using our test server! Players will race to see how high they can level within 4 hours, from 1-5 PM EST. Here's the details and rules:
* On the secondary server, all houses/accounts/players will be cleared out. Players will all start with brand new level 8 characters. Cupie list items will NOT be available to purchase.
If you want to participate and receive prizes, follow these rules:
* Name your character the same as your character on the normal server, Aether Storm = Aether Storm, Lucifer = Lucifer, Straynj = Straynj. Use the SAME NAME so I can give prizes to you.
* Partying will be disabled.
* PVP will be allowed in PVP areas.
* Repeatedly killing your friends to gain exp will get you booted from the event and get your main character killed.
* Creating multiple new characters to abuse quests, gain free cash, or any other technique will get you booted from the event and get your main character killed.

Get ready to have a blast, see you at 1!

     BALANCE UPDATES, BACKPACKS OF FLUIDS, AND RUPTURE RUNE!

Quite a few great changes were made today...
* You can buy backpacks of mana fluids at Golan in Avia, north of the depot! (Coming soon to other towns)
* Hendrik is the dead captain of the Flying Dutchman. He provides transport in a very peculiar manner... from lake to lake, instead of through the normal rivers. Two keywords will be revealed, the others must be discovered: hilatia oasis, southeast avia
* Samurai now regenerate hp based on their level, helping them to be comparable to the other classes for solo play at high levels
* Mana fluids now restore MUCH more mana based on magic level, with less emphasis on level
* Experience required for levels 260-300+ have been changed, making these levels a bit slower.

Managing necromancer summons has been a problem, since they always run all over. Thankfully, we have added a new "spell" that will automatically call all your summons to your location, res!

In addition, mana fluids now scale with magic level and level, restoring more mana as you become higher and more powerful.

I was on business out of town from 8 AM to 11 PM EST, the server crashed and it was a hardware failure which required my presence to repair.      MAP UPDATE!

Another excellent map update is upon us. As the psychic predicted a catastrophe, no less than a dragon invasion of Avia coupled with the rising from the ground of a volcano smack in the middle of town. Some houses were destroyed, but thankfully the insurance agencies of Avia were able to restore all the possessions to the rightful owners.

The new volcano is only one of the many updates scattered about, most in the general area of Avia north and south. Enjoy!

In addition, we've added the brand new city of Naratar, complete with a slew of hunting grounds nearby. This city can be found somewhere southwest of Avia.

     PVP DAY REWARDS!

The PVP day rewards have been handed out! Just about any character in 10 or more fights received 5 crystal coins.

Characters with excellent performance received 5 cupies, 200x UH, 100x HC, 100x HE and 10 crystal coins.

Characters who won main page awards received 10 cupies, 300x UH, 200x HC, 200x HE, dragon scale legs (!) and 10 crystal coins for each award the won.

     PVP DAY IS HERE!

Today is a pure PVP day.
Characters and houses have been fully backed up and will be restored Monday.
Nothing that happens today will save permanently.
You will receive prizes based on how well you do!
Not participating is WORSE than losing, so kill and die all day long to maximize your prizes!

Pure enforced PVP will be on all day long and PVP related events will be held by GMs with prizes to win (both for today, such as epic weapons, and for your main characters, such as cash, runes, and cupies)

For non-PVPers, this is a great time to try some dangerous stunts and not worry about losing your hard-earned levels in the process.


Also, all newly created characters will find that when they begin training and killing monsters, their level, magic level, and skills will quickly rise to form a premade level 60 character!

Rule: Killing your own characters or your friends characters multiple times, and especially creating new characters solely to advance in level will result in NO prizes for you. Only legitimate PVP counts - the logs will be scoured!

     PVP DAY

Sunday we will be having a pure PVP day. Characters and houses will be fully backed up and pure enforced PVP will commence all day. PVP related events will be held by GMs with prizes to win, including rare weapons, wands and rods to use during the PVP time. At the end of the PVP extravaganza, the backup will be loaded (so your characters and houses are all restored to normal) then players will be rewarded based on the amount of kills and quality of kills that they have scored, with prizes including free experience, skills, magic level, cash, cupies and items.

For non-PVPers, this is a great time to try some dangerous stunts and not worry about losing your hard-earned levels in the process.

A clarification to make sure this is not confusing: Saturday night your character(s) and your house(s) will be SAVED and BACKED UP. On Sunday you will play with copies of your characters and your house, anything you do will not count on your main character, if you die 10 times your main character will not lose anything, and if you gain levels your main character will not gain anything. Your winnings will be prizes based on how well you did in PVP, and you could win a substantial amount. Your main characters will be restored on Monday and you can play as usual, hopefully with some shiny new prizes from your PVP bloodbath.

The work on our latest update is nearly complete! We're working on some of the finishing touches now. There are more new hunting areas than we can count, with numerous new creatures to test your cunning. Additional quests await you on the snow islands, home to the city of Sera. While exploration of the snow islands is not complete, dwarven mining teams are working around the clock to extract the dirt and get under the surface to see what can be found. The new island city of Slybrooke awaits those looking for a more peaceful and secluded hideaway, with a wide assortment of houses to choose from (as well as a familiar look!). The southwestern desert, the second of the major deserts is home to extraordinarily high level challenges...

     DAMAGE IMPROVEMENTS, RUNE IMPROVEMENTS

The base damage of sorcerers and druids has been lightly increased.

Damage per level for melee and distance has been increased from 1 point every 10 levels to 1 point every 2 levels.

Holy Cross damage has been slightly increased.

Ultimate Magic Missile's minimum damage has been slightly increased.

Unholy Devastator runes now come from the shop in 2x and 20x instead of 1x and 10x.

     NO MORE LAG! OTHER FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS

After a long struggle, I think I finally have the issues worked out with my ISP regarding lag. The server should be relatively lag free now!

Some other cool fixes have been made as well:

When you use a command, such as !online, it will work even if you are in gamechat or a private message window. The results will still display to Default, though.

When logging out, you should no longer log in at the temple, unless something teleports you back (too many monsters on your spot, etc.).

Heavy Explosion is now magic level 8 and has the originally intended wide range.

Ice witches, warlocks, priestess', monks, dark monks and an assortment of other monsters should drop their proper addon items.

     DISTANCE BUG FIX, HEAVY EXPLOSION RUNES, HOLY CROSS IMPROVED

A critical bug was fixed with certain distance weapons, spears in particular. The attack value should now work properly with these distance weapons. In addition, we added a new powerful rune for characters magic level 9 or higher, heavy explosion. This rune will become highly useful for the dedicated knights who work to achieve magic level 9. Holy cross has also been lowered in magic level to make it more accessable to high-end paladins, as the old magic level could have taken half a year to achieve.

     NO MORE BLANKS, LOW WEIGHT AMMO

A few important balance and ease-of-play changes: you will no longer require blank runes in order to create spell runes. Simply cast the rune spell and the rune will appear. In addition, rune merging now has a mana cost of 5. For paladins, samurais, and necromancers, the weight of most ammo types has been lowered by half so you can pack more ammo similar to other vocations being able to pack 100x runes.

     MORE LOOT! MORE WEAPONS!

Another update has brought many new weapons to the table - over 10 are now dropped on various creatures around the game. What creatures? Ghouls, bandits, smugglers, liches, fire devils, giant spiders, heroes, black knights, nightmares and barbarians... just to name a few. Get out and find them!

     UPDATES!

An assortment of interesting updates today! The first is the introduction of gambling - through our slot machine and lottery master Famous, near the training center. Here you can test your luck and see if you can win coins or rare prizes!

Next, we made some improvements to our chat and info system. If you send a private message to someone that is offline, it will tell you in your Default window instead of in white text that is hard to notice. Next, levels are displayed in !online so you can get an overview of who is on and what level they are.

We fixed a few bugs as well - charmer's tiara and necromancer shield now properly give their bonus effect. Also when players are partied, they will no longer receive no experience when killing very weak monsters (such as the creepy crawly raid). We also improved numerous things on the back end of SolusOT that will assist GMs in taking care of you. Enjoy!

Finally, we added one new spell: create GREAT food! Exevo gran pan, magic level 5. Try it out!

     !INVITE AND !JOIN

Two new commands have been implemented. You will no longer have to be on-screen to use these functions.

!invite - Invite a player to your party.

!join - Join a party.

In addition, most target-switching monsters should now behave a little more normal - and switch a little less often.

     ADDON IMPROVEMENTS

Numerous improvements in getting your addons have been made. First off, the loot rate has been increased for most addon pieces. In addition, some of the monsters that weren't dropping their addon items (beholders, giant spiders, etc.) are now properly dropping them. But the most important part is that many addons that required special trading routines have been switched and now require the original items (Fighting Spirit = 2 Royal Helmets, etc.). In addition, some addons have been modified entirely, such as the addon for the beggar's staff. Check them out at NPC Arpigotti near the monks in the Walk of Quests!

     NEW SPELLS

New spells have been introduced!

Ultimate Magic Missile - The most elite magic missile rune developed to date, this powerful rune will quickly floor enemies.

Great Soul Fire - Unleash inner devastation, burning your opponent critically.

Mass Paralyze - When paralyze just isn't enough, mass paralyze will keep the swarms at bay.

Holy Spike - A handy spell for low levels, this will deal light damage in a small cross shape.

Group Healing - Ever need to heal a group? Group healing runes will do the trick.

Flame Burst - A massive burst of flame and blade, knights can easily destroy enemies with this whirlwind.

Poison Leak - A low-level spell shooting a burst of poison in all directions.

Poison Burst - A medium-level spell that unleashes a more powerful burst of poison in the direction you face.

Great Fire Wave - Be your own dragon! Unleash a massive fire wave dealing excellent damage.

Second Attack - A knight or samurai could always use a second attack!

     HUGE MAP UPDATE, AND MASSIVE IMPROVEMENTS TO SHIELDING AND ARMOR

Today we introduced a large map update! The massive deserts of the northeast are here. Minotaurs, scorpions, wyverns, larva, scarabs, and many more creatures await you in the heat of the sand. Head out of the northeast gate of Avia and follow the eastern coast over the river and through the woods to the desert. Explore this new area with caution, as one never knows what dangers - and treasure - will lurk beyond the next corner. As with all areas on SolusOT, the new areas will also continue to improve and receive new spawns.

Shielding and armor have received a significant upgrade. Previously, due to a bug in the OT system, when multiple (3+) monsters were attacking you you would not receive an armor bonus for any of your extra creatures. This has been fixed, so when surrounded by rotworms you shouldn't take much damage if you're wearing good armor, and other such bugs. In addition shielding was reworked so that it functions much more like the real thing.

A new wand was introduced - usable by THREE vocations - druid, sorcerer and necromancer. Find it!

Among other bug fixes, you can now access the advanced lava underground near a certain behemoth and fury spawn. Be careful!

     TODAY'S CHANGES (AND BACK ONLINE)

The weather appears to have 'stabalized.' Today brought a slew of new changes.

All damage now has a level bonus, which is primarily a boost to physical vocations (knight, samurai, paladin)

The next wand and rod after inferno/tempest are now in the game on a quest! Be the first to get yours!

Prime Necromancers should properly summon 6 creatures now.

Physical damage no longer has a minimum of 1, but instead a minimum of 25%

More PVP zones added!

More raids added!

Just wanted to let you know that the storms in the midwest are killing power at our host site. We're negotiating with God about a comprimise on the weather patterns and should hopefully be running fine shortly. ;)

Today we have finally introduced the awaited PVP zones! PVP to your heart's content in certain areas on the map, with no skull system to get in your way. There are currently 7 PVP enabled hunting grounds, and more to come as map additions continue!

Barbarians and undead east of town

Heroes underground near the undead spawns, southwest of town

A grassy open space in the field south of town

The giant undead castle north of town

Cyclopolis and the serpent spawns

And of course the duelling arena in town

     8.00 SPELLS AND OTHER CHANGES

Even MORE numerous cool changes today:

Divine Caldera - Same as the RL spell.

Fierce Berserk - Same as the RL spell.

Whirlwind Throw - Same as the RL spell. (not working yet)

Ethereal Spear - Same as the RL spell. (not working yet)

Lightning Speed - An extreme form of haste only for samurais

Violent Will - A massive damage ranged instant spell in the shape of an explosion, also only for samurais.

All the strike spells have been half-modified to act like the RL Tibia spells (shooting the targetted monster) however I still have to work on this.

The effects of shielding should be considerably more accurate now.

Samurais now gain magic level faster (faster than a paladin, slower than a mage)

Samurais now gain distance faster (still slower than a paladin)

Samurais now learn some new spells such as energy beam, great energy beam and strong haste. They lost the ability to use magic shield, however.

Field and magic wall runes and attacks should now wear off properly.

     MAJOR SPELL CHANGES, NEW NECRO/PALADIN SPELLS

Numerous cool changes today:

ALL level restrictions on runes should be removed. You only need the appropriate magic level and mana.

Destroy field is now 10 charges.

Paladins can now conjure mass ammo, using "exevo con mas (spell)".

Draw Darkness - A healing spell for necromancers, drawing upon the shadows for dark energy. This heals a small amount and costs 60 mana.

Invisible now lasts the appropriate 200 seconds.

Haste now lasts the appropriate 33 seconds.

Strong haste now lasts the appropriate 22 seconds.

Some vocations were casting the new runes with higher charges. This is now fixed so all vocations should cast the correct amount of charges on their runes.

Eliminator rune is now magic level 17 to use.

Solar rune is now magic level 20 to use.

Holy cross rune is now magic level 30 to use.

Unholy devastator rune is now magic level 65 to use.

Spellbooks now work!

(( EDIT, even more changes today! ))

Players can now kill their own summons.

Summons can now be pushed by all players.

Many monsters were adjusted to be more realistic, notably including black knight, toad, and thornback tortoise.

Some shooter/magic monsters such as fire devil have been modified with increased experience due to their difficulty.

     NEW SPELLS, BALANCE FIXES

Two new spells have been added today, and one has been modified:

Groundshaker - for knights, this spell is identical to RL Tibia, but with a minimum damage of 30.

Whirlwind - for samurai, this spell is similar to Groundshaker, but does additional damage.

In addition, quite a few changes were made for balance. First, summons no longer leech your exp (although some graphical glitches with the exp gain are still being worked on). Paladin throwing weapons are now consumed like normal (except the improved throwing knife which is still bugged, but should be fixed tonight).

Ultimate Healing runes were reduced to 3.2k per backpack.

     MORE CHANGES/FIXES

New weapons at the distance shop: onyx arrow, throwing star and royal spear

The loot buyer has been significantly improved, you should be able to see lists of everything that you can sell by asking.

The Informant now answers more questions, including questions about rates, shops, and quests.

Wands and rods now do a bit less damage, the magic level bonus applied to them was quite high. This has been balanced out a bit better, but not to fear for there are more wands and rods at higher levels.

A new set of dwarf caverns were added north out of town.

Many map and monster bugs have been fixed, such as wyverns healing too much, gargoyles doing too much damage, and rope holes getting you stuck. As always, let us know if you find more.
